Collaboration Portfolio Management
To achieve an organization’s goals, each community’s goals and activities must be tied to an overall business strategy.
This is achieved through the establishment of a Community Management Office (CMO). The CMO establishes portfolio processes governing all of an organization’s communities. These processes engender a sense of fairness, logic, and reasoning – enabling meaningful cross-functional conversations.
Most organizations recognize the need to leverage social tools and online collaboration to remain relevant. Many have already embraced them. Unfortunately, many online social collaboration environments have been failing. Silos of information and interchange are being replicated. There is often misuse, a disregard for intended audience and purpose, and a lack of alignment with an organisation’s broader business objectives. A clearer approach is needed to better leverage the huge opportunity communities provide for organisational collaboration, development, and growth.
